The CAT5EXT300 CAT5 KVM Extender Set is a new KVM extender technology that utilizes CATx cable media to extend your console up to 300M away. This advanced KVM Extender Set not only extends your keyboard, monitor and mouse but also those commonly seen interfaces such as serial port, audio speakers and microphone from your computer up to 300 m (1,000ft) on a single CATx UTP cable, with satisfying signal quality that suffers barely visible loss if connected via good quality cables.
           
The K5EXT300 CAT5 KVM Extender Set comprises two disparate units - the receiver and the transmitter. The receiver is the local console unit, or simply put, the receiver on one end of the UTP cable; while the Transmitter is the computer module w/ local console, or simply put, the transmitter on the other end of the UTP cable. However, the Transmitter also provides a local console, so that user can also access the computer just on the computer end, in addition to the remote end on the receiver.

It is especially useful for setting up a highly flexible and at the same time, extended computer/user topology over a long distance up to 300M. Applicable either over an exhibition room, industrial floors, security room, locked server room, or other mission-critical scenarios, the KVM extender set allows you to locate your server physically far back from the user due to security or spatial concerns.

The K5EXT300 CAT5 KVM Extender Set also provides extension support for both USB and PS/2 keyboard and mouse interface on both console side and computer side, plus extension for serial RS-232, audio&mic interface. With our extensive support on RS-232 interface, it is in a best  position to support most of the touch panels or touch pads that are seen very frequently the extender application scenarios.

Local Console Hotkeys for Remote Console Access Control
The K5EXT300 CAT5 KVM Extender Set provides configuration hotkeys that can be issued on the local console to configure the remote console access control for normal mode or view-only mode as well as the hotkey preceding sequence selection. These hotkey commands are only available on local console (on the Transmitter unit) and not on the remote console (Receiver) since the remote console might be located within non-secured area and access should be restricted. With these hotkeys, users can either block or grant access, or toggle on/off the view-only mode on the remote console. For someone who does need to use different hotkey preceding sequence, it also provides 5 alternatives for choice.  Thus, the Local Console (i.e. the TX unit) will have permanent access of the computer without limitation; the Remote Console can be enabled with full access or view-only access, or access disabled entirely from the local console.

Hotkey selection for DDC/EDID emulation modes – Default / Remote / EDID Copy commands
The K5EXT300 CAT5 KVM Extender Set also provides extensive support modes for EDID data emulation. Simply by using keyboard hotkey commands (ScrLk-ScrLk-M-1/2), users can designate the EDID emulation to use the EDID data copy from either the default EDID (factory default) or that which is copied from the Remote monitor. With these emulation modes for choice, the user can directly copy the EDID data from the monitor actually in use on the remote end when the default EDID fails to be compatible with it.

“Transparent HID” option for USB keyboard/Mouse on the Computer Module
In order to support more advanced keyboard or mouse that requires proprietary driver for full functionalities, one can enable the USB keyboard port on the Computer Module w/ Local Console by enabling the “Transparent HID” option on the OSD Menu. The transparent HID feature works only on keyboard and mouse connected to the Computer Module side, and not on far-end console across CAT5 cable.

Extension up to 300M w/ high resolution and 16-bit audio sound
The extension distance is up to 300M with high resolution support up to 1600 x 1200 (100M) / 1280 x 1024 (300M). Audio and mic supports a 16-bit mono sound. And RS-232 serial extension is just a very convenient way for those who require a reliable serial extension over CAT5 UTP.
